Latvijas Lauksaimniecības un meža zinātņu akadēmijas Mežzinātņu nodaļas locekļi un Latvijas Zinātņu akadēmijas akadēmiķi piedalās Valsts pētījumu programmas “Inovācijas meža apsaimniekošanā un koksnes apstrādes pievienotās vērtības ķēdē Latvijas izaugsmei: jauni pakalpojumi, produkti, tehnoloģijas (Forest4LV) “ (VPP-ZM-VRIIILA-2024/2-0002) īstenošanā.

Forest4LV mērķis ir veicināt inovatīvu un klimatam pielāgotu meža apsaimniekošanu Latvijā, attīstot jaunus pakalpojumus, produktus un tehnoloģijas. Programmā plānots mazināt zināšanu trūkumu par daudzfunkcionālu mežsaimniecību, veicot standartizētus pētījumus par koku augšanu, bioloģisko daudzveidību un pielāgošanos klimata pārmaiņām. Iegūtie dati tiks integrēti ar Eiropas klimata viedās mežsaimniecības iniciatīvām un scenāriju modelēšanu.
Pētījumu programma piedāvās starpdisciplināru, uz ieinteresēto pušu līdzdalību balstītu pieeju, lai novērtētu meža apsaimniekošanas scenārijus, tostarp to ietekmi uz klimatu un ekonomiku. Tas veicinās meža resursu ilgtspējīgu izmantošanu pārstrādē, biorafinēšanā un koksnes būvniecībā, kā arī jaunu bioloģisku materiālu izstrādi, tā samazinot SEG emisijas. Jaunie pētnieki tiks sagatavoti darbam ar vērtību ķēdes holistisku ietekmes novērtējumu — no meža līdz gala produktam.

Academicians of the Forest Science Division of the Latvian Academy of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences are participating in the implementation of the State Research Programme project “Innovation in Forest Management and Value Chain for Latvia's Growth: New Forest Services, Products and Technologies (Forest4LV)” (VPP-ZM-VRIIILA-2024/2-0002).

The aim of Forest4LV is to promote innovative and climate-adapted forest management in Latvia by developing new services, products, and technologies. The project will address the current knowledge gap in multifunctional forestry through standardized research on tree growth, biodiversity, and adaptation to climate change. The obtained data will be integrated with European climate-smart forestry initiatives and scenario modelling.
The project takes an interdisciplinary and stakeholder-driven approach to assess forest management scenarios, including their impacts on climate and the economy. It will support sustainable use of forest resources in processing, biorefining, and wood construction, as well as the development of new bio-based materials, thereby contributing to greenhouse gas emission reductions. Young researchers will be trained to holistically assess the impacts along the value chain — from forest to final product.
